The "kiss" that begins at 2:50 can be seen as taking a typical movie convention and turning it on its head. Instead of them giving IN to an irresistible ATTRACTION, they are RESISTING an irresistible REPULSION. LOL. I didn't analyze it like this until recently, after seeing the movie many times over many years. However, this gag works even on an unconscious level.
