@SilentControl843 Why would you think people train in martial arts only for that some day someone may try to kill them?? If you train well, realistically, from a good teacher and the style has what is needed, you will learn how to fight, how to defend. There still is so much more you can get from that years and years of training, for which you have no idea until you do it yourself.

@torro454 yeah that's sort of what i meant. not escalating the fight when unneccessary. ie just run when you can. and possibly take the light hits if it means not angering the other person.

@maxgunn555 I mean no disrespect! If someone is on a strong drug, or serious mental illness, they likely won't drop unless they are truly incapacitated. I'm not sure what that would take because what would incapacitate even a heavy weight, likely won't be effective on them. They'll feel it later, presuming you didn't use lethal force, which still might not stop them in time to save you... I would heartily suggest getting the heck out of there at all cost, if possible, in such case. Regards

@kuru2k9 cool. aikido, boxing and wing chun will help you best on the street imo. aikido for if you're charged at. boxing for if it's a stationary fight with not alot of aggression. and wing chun for panic up close surprise attacks - say if you were attacked in a phone booth.
