Assange lawyer: US drawing up case of unprecedented size & scale

Julian Assange has been holed up in Ecuador's diplomatic mission for over 6 weeks now, seeking asylum. He denies the sex crime claims and believes they're just a pretext to hand him over to the US There, he fears prosecution for espionage after a massive leak of secret diplomatic and military files. Assange's lawyer, Jennifer Robinson, says America's given no assurances that they're not interested in prosecuting him - even though it could be done easily.

The only thing american about youtube is its company base. The video uploads are mostly from individuals and/or other parties to which youtube also pays to have on here. Nevertheless they are not bound to the US in any way or form, and are very much free to speak it as they wish, in your favor, or against you.

In this situation, youtube is as american as wikileaks is Swedish.

It is illegal in all of Europe to extradite where the death penalty or abuse are possible. Even *supermax prison* which ordinary US criminals go to is classified as "abuse". It took the US 8 years to get Abu-freaking-Hamza from the US, a guy plotting to set up terrorist camps in the US, who everyone hated. I like the leaks. I even wrote scripts to help me parse them. But they don't excuse waiting until a girl falls asleep in order to F* her in a way she spent all evening refusing.

"The US" is not an entity. It's many individuals - laws made by many hundreds in congress, enforced by dozens in the white house, and with hundreds of thousands of pundits covering the issues.
