A competent driver would never risk this action since he would put at risk the lives of others in different lanes - he would/should be looking ahead, keep composed,and brake as hard as conditions allowed in a straight line. This would shorten the stopping distance dramatically whereas braking and steering in a turn violently would lead to disaster and more than likely trip a combination over if the the load was a high and CoG and conditions were dry. (20 years clean experience)
