In the Fall of '07, I visited the Michigan State Police Precision Driving Course in Lansing, MI. Here, I watched the officers drive the course and learn how to better drive a police cruiser.

  • The use of the big red beacon (Unity RV-26) is now almost entirely unique to the MSP. I would consider adding the tags "Unity", "RV-26" & "Unibeacon." A LOT of police car enthusiasts would appreciate this.

  • Awesome I did. you have to tell me what it means though!

  • @LeighRay Haha that is awesome.

  • Unity manufactures the beacon (model# RV-26) that the MSP has used since the 1970s. The MSP have used that exact model for over 30 yrs. The only change is the recent switch to a solid red dome. MSP used to use the red dome with two clear pinstripes (called "Spitfire") for added brightness. Unity discontinued the spitfire domes a few years ago. Anyway, the novelty here is the continued use of the huge red beacon when EVERYONE else has used fancier, more expensive lighting for decades.

  • I caught that partial shot of the LED Unibeacon too. Is that a home-made thing created by the MSP garage or is this something unity is actually making?

  • AWESOME and there is a LED Unity Beacon in there..
