First movement of Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 8 in C minor Op. 13, "Pathétique". According to me - the best piano piece ever written.
Performer: Wilhelm Kempff

  • Why is it called Pathétique? It's wonderful!!

  • @Heitorsexy "Pathétique" means "emotional".

  • "According to me - the best piano piece ever written. "

I agree, but there is the opus 109!!!

Thank you for the excellent video!!

  • @RepertMousik Well, I thought so when I uploaded the video. Still consider it a great piece, though. Anyways, who's op. 109 are you refering to?

  • @moltoallegro19

Hi, the sonate n. 30, opus 109, Beethoven!!!

But I agree ! This is a great sonate!!! This sonate (and the opus 109) have place on the history. Not of the history of music, but the humanity.

All the best!! Thanks for your answer.

  • @RepertMousik Of course, you meant Beethoven, sorry, should have understood that. But, yeah, most of maestro Beethoven's sonatas are great! I'll check it out (no. 30), not sure I've heard it before, thanks for the tip.

  • @WhynotMiha Wilhelm Kempff and Glenn Gould are the white and the black also in Bach. W. Kempff is ever slow and lyric, Gould is ever fast and antisentimental. One man's meat is another man's poison. For Beethoven, in my opinion, W. Kempff is much more plausible.

  • @BOLDword73 Oh

  • @bnrshdydvdrtrk There was an episode on the show Seinfeld that had this song and this how I recognized it. So I was wondering if anyone else saw the show and recognized the song.

  • It's hard to believe Beethoven was stone deaf from birth! Amazing!

  • @BOLDword73 Huh?

  • Did Seinfeld bring anyone here or just me?

  • @RepertMousik Hammerklavier is the best in my opinion, and in Beethoven's opinion too :)
