"Are you the friend who will give me the structure and love I've been waiting for?"
Every so often a mixed breed becomes the perfect blend of both breeds. Consider Brodie. Part Catahoula Leopard part Pit Bull, Brodie has the uniquely beautiful coloring, sleek muscular body shape, intelligence, and playful personality of the Catahoula. Add to that the strength, determination and ruggedness of the Pit Bull. Then into the blend comes the protective nature and fierce loyalty of both breeds.
Both Catahoulas and Pit Bulls want and need a strong-willed companion, one they can respect, follow, and protect. Both excel when they receive such a companion and training at an early age.
That didn't happen here. Brodie was adopted from APA! as a puppy. While he loved the family and they loved him, for whatever reason they couldn't give him the training or guidance he needed. Now back with his foster dad, Brodie has been thriving from a structured training routine.
In addition to this structured daily routine and environment, Brodie needs a quiet home without kids or smaller dogs, and a patient, confident companion who is strong enough to take charge, yet creative enough to be adventurous and willing to continue Brodie's training.
In that home, Brodie will grow into the warm, protective perfect companion he is already showing signs of being. He still has some issues with resource guarding; he still occasionally ignores commands. But he is learning. Fast.
Brodie is a playful, goofy, affectionate, big-hearted, big-bodied guy who needs to understand what his boundaries are. He is housetrained and cratetrained, loves to go on runs, plays one of the silliest games of catch with a ball or toy ever seen, and thrives on the company of dogs his size or larger. Anyone who spends time with him falls in love with him. Anyone who spends time with him laughs at his antics.
For Brodie, you provide the structure and training. In return, you get a handsome, rugged, loving companion.
