Dorinda Evans a long time quilter and quilt making teacher, in this video she talks about the colorful history surrounding American quilting. Quilting is no longer just a country craft but a 4 billion dollar a year industry with over 17% of American household involved in quilting. She traces the history of American settlers tattered history from the colonial days to the push to the west. Quilters of the past carried through their quilts a variety of patterns with different meanings and significance. Dorinda also traces the history of the log cabin style block from historic to contemporary times.

  • I really enjoy both of your videos, about traditional quilting patterns, and the messages behind them (hand to work heart to God etc) and though these aren't "how-to" videos, I found them to be very helpful, in many ways. Knowing the history behind quilting gives me a much bigger picture. Thanks for sharing. Happy Quilting.
