The documentary isn't being produced by me--They just interviewed me, since I've known him for more than 30 years and he considers me his biographer, due to the articles I've written about him. The doc is being made by award winning film maker, Josh Gilbert, who is best known for "A.k.a, Tommy Chong," about half of the Cheech and Chong comedy duo. As I write this, The Chedwicks and Josh are back in Pittsburgh filming segments for the new documentary. Please--Contribute what you can!

I grew up in Swissvale, Pa...and just across the Monongahela River, at the end of the High Level Bridge was radio Station WHOD...where Porky belted out Rock and Roll to all us Teenagers in the early 50s and 60s....when all of the other local network stations refused to play Rock and Roll.....Wow, what a great era to live in, and I am glad I was part of it........

@fillby NO NO NO Porky's theme song was by RAY PRYSOCK. Last Night by THE MARKEYS came way after Porky started.

Porky, the guy who played music that no one else would play. Listened to WAMO, first AM then later FM. Went to his hops, Teenland in Bridgeville. Still remember him as being 'the man' in Pittsburgh. Today, (2010) he's still remember by many. I have a PORKY music collection that I play to this day, ........Rocket 88, Rocket 69, Bo Diddley, Skyliners, etc etc etc, ....glad I experienced him.
Just a note to let everyone know that as of this writing, there is a documentary in production about the life of this radio pioneer. If you would like to contribute to the production costs--anything you can afford--we'd be most grateful. Check out the trailer and get all the details. You can even get Associate Producer and Co-Producer credits in the film. For whatever reason, I can't post the link, so do a search--here on You Tube--for "Bringing Porky Home."

Ed... good luck with the project. With all the video clips out there with Porky in them, you should have a fun time putting together this video.

Wasn't "Last Night" by the Mar-Keys Porky's theme song? I just listened to it elsewhere on YouTube and it sure sounded familiar.

I'm not sure, but I think you may be correct. If I only knew how to get in touch with Porky these days to find out for sure.

I remember listening to all the great tunes Porky would play on WAMO. What a character! The Bossman is the only DJ in Pittsburgh who could 'put a sonic boom in your room'

A sonic boom in your room? Never heard that one, but I like it. Porky is such a great guy. I've met him a couple of times. You couldn't meet a nicer, more humble man. He never, ever let his fame go to his head, as many other local Pittsburgh DJ's did back in the day.
