@JordmanKNOWS The connection is that sexual orientation is based upon the gender of a person and the gender of the people they are attracted to. Many people say there is no connection, but gender is connected to so much more than people realize. In that respect, the two are related, but the very fact that gender identity is questioned is what divides us. I believe that if more people were willing to consider just how ingrained gender identity is in sexuality, they may find more of a connection.

I am not a transexual but a soft stud and I do see a lot of discrimination coming from employers towards trans people. At my job they told the MTF individual she had to go to the men's bathroom because their name badge had a male name on it. They said she had to take the fake nails off too in order to work for the company. U know what happen next when she refused to do neither she was fired. I must admit some people just don't transition that well they look a hot mess with transition. U can sti

T is not protected under gender in the EEOC? Thank you for sharing bc I never realized that T was left out of our fight.

I most definitely see your point. I feel like the LGBT community should stay united, but there needs to be more pressure from the T segment and T sympathetic interests. I feel like separating from the group will decrease our voice. What I feel needs to be done is refocusing the whole LGBT group to have a bigger focus on transsexuality, and the community needs "No one left behind" attitude. I guess this is what the queer movement is all about. But I certainly see your point here.

*I am not gay, lesbian, bisexual or trans...but this has crossed my mind. To me, it did seem like sort of separate issues. Going to share this with a few friends because this makes alot of sense. Not sure how I get to impact this, but I'm glad to have heard this laid all the way out.

@AndCans Correct. It's a thought provoking subject with no finite answer. We all grow up learning different things in different cultures. No one is right or wrong. We just... are. :)

@JordmanKNOWS No. Then again, femininity is subjective in some ways, just like masculinity. Some people's views on what "feminine" means will differ from others, usually depending on what culture they are around. Just because a man is considered masculine by a culture does not undoubtedly mean he's straight, right?

@AndCans So, wait, let me just make sure I understand exactly what you're saying. Let's say a biological male identifies as a male and is very effeminate. Are you implying that his femininity would make it safe to assume that he's gay?
I'm Pansexual, shouldn't I have recognition in the LGBT community as well?

Hi ! I really agree with you, but I think there is something to think about those who are trans AND gay, lesbian or bisexual. I mean a lot of my trans friends have their passing now and they're dating women (they're ftm) but what about me with now a male passing and dating man ? And i'm a black trans so there is race and class issue. So to me, yes we might need a T separation, but I don't think it helps every T. I think it might help first trans who are straight. Actualy I'm still confused

@Maevaprod Trans rights would include that - but gay rights, in many cases, do not. Gay rights are just that, gay rights. Trans rights are for a person who is trans, regardless of their sexuality.
