Well, on a mature established tree, it can take full sun (more than 6 hours of sun light). This particular maple I keep it in partial shade, on the East facing side of my house, so it gets only about 4 hours of morning sun and then stay in shade for the afternoon.

I am in need of some advice about my acer. For some unknown reason, my acers leaves have gone crispy and golden .... it does NOT look healthly at all ... what should I do????

@LoftyProduction I do have a separate video for that. (sunburn Japanese maple)However, I think it is kind of late in season do so what I had suggested in the video. So I would suggest you move it to a little shade, or do anything to give it a little less sun. Keep watering but not too much. Plant should recover itself, and then next year it should be strong enough and this should not happen.
