From the 1981 "The Roger Whittaker Album".

Recordplayer is the Philips GA-212 with the Super M GP400 cartridge from the early '70's.
Put "&fmt=18" (without quotes) behind the URL in your addressbar for higher quality stereo-sound.
Sorry for the background hum, I forgot to properly ground the player.

  • Very Good Unit there mate...Very clean sound .

  • Thanks. There is a low hum, but I forgot to ground it when I recorded this. I got this player from a friend, because it was broken and he wanted to throw it away. It had no belt and cables where cut off.. So I resoldered a DIN-plug for the audio, attached an electrical wire (from an old lamp actually), and replaced the belt. Last week I ordered a new cartridge. Funny thing: All the lamps are original but still working. Very nice player, I'm glad it didn't get thrown away ;-). I use it a lot.

  • I am lucky to be a dutchman, we`ve got shiploads of those 212's in Holland.

In the livingroom here is the 312 model which has LED lights instead of lightbulbs.

In the attic is my trusty old 212, because the bulbs are broken....

A very very fine recordplayer, easy to handle.

  • Which someone old niche music at an old beautiful recordplayer- i wish, i had this video on my handy...

  • beautiful music

  • @Blacksan4 Who can tell me if I cab still buy this beautiful machine in Europe???

    thx

  • I used to have a GA212! It's great that you rescued this classic piece of audio hardware. Would have been a shame for it to end up at the dump. Being such a simple design, I'm sure is will last for as long as they keep making cartridges!

I loved the minimalist styling and functionality. Performance was excellent. Wow and flutter, and rumble were non-existent thanks to the DC servo electronics and the supple suspension. Some people had the lights in the touch controls go out, but mine never did.

  • Running too fast...

  • god bless you dad we will meet again im sure....

  • Very nice!

  • Nice player, just got the last part to my Philips 212 electronc . It have been colecting dust for 20 years or so in my parents attic. Love that Vinyl is coming back in style.

    Marry x-mas from Norway

  • Thanks for the classic shot of the turn table. Before there were walkmans, I pod mp3's, I was cool with my battery operated record player/radio.
