Spartans were not raised specifically to fight aliens, they were made to stop rebels. kicking alien ass was a side feature.

I always thought the mundane deaths in video games were truly spectacular.
I mean, comeon. Take Halo for example. You're a genetically advanced supersoldier, raised specifically to fight an army of horrifying alien menaces from ages so young you don't remember your own parents. You have the best possible armor in all of humanity, you've slaughtered hundreds, possibly thousands of alien monsters, you're probably the single most feared man in the UNSC... and miscalculating a jump can kill you.
