What are some good bass amps for rock/punk for intermediate players? I've been playing guitar for 14 years now and I'm going to pick up bass so I'm not really interested in small beginner's amps. I'd rather buy something decent for practising at home and gigs straight away than having to upgrade in a year or so.

I have no idea about prices but I was thinking around $400.

Agreed! What is it worth without a sound sample...? Practically nothing!! Grrrrr! It'd be great to hear what a small-ish low cost-ish tube amp from Ampeg sounds like, but no!! To give another example - the "Kerry King" Marshall head (the big one, not the mini stack thing)... looks like a good idea, until you hear it !! Yukkk!!!
