This is really interesting. I have the total opposite view. I am a gay mid 20 yr old guy in Australia who suffers from body dysmorphia and what I witness in the gay community is the opposite, whereas if you are super skinny, you are automatically "hot". Even if you have an unattractive face and disgusting personality, but are super skinny, you are automatically "hot". Whereas if you have a cute face, beautiful personality but are slightly curvy or a few extra kilos, no one will even look at you

Gay culture is utter consumerism, just like consumerism in society at large, only gays don't need to be repressed and hypocritical about it, they can just go for it, ANYTHING goes. THIS is the appeal of the gay-scene.
Obviously such licentiousness can generate exhilaration and high moods but in terms of cultural content, food for the mind or heart, it's completely empty. It's a drug & after a while people get off it -if they're lucky.

It's a very unhealthy way of living, not only physically, but psychically, spiritually. It's degrading, emptying, nihilistic.
So by the time the enormous excitement and relief of being among peers fades somewhat, many gay men leave the scene, knowing it won't fulfill them.
I think it's a bit of a myth they're ejected from it because they would be over the hill by age 35. Everybody can more or less easily get laid in the gay-scene but most of the younger 'men' are so self-absorbed...
Hey, were did you download the video from? i think i need to see it

I think it has more to do with homosexuality as a youth culture. I have a feeling that older 40+ gay men have it pretty hard.

@duran66 I think that there is a lot of issues with all sides. I will say that some older men have completely discounted what it may be like to be a youth in the gay community. Not saying you but, some older men not only feel like our opinions are invalid for not being in the aids epidemic but also, just based on our looks we have no struggles. There is no relationship to appearance to looks and self esteem and many forget that on a continuous basis. Does anyone remember how much high school

@Thanx1982 sucked LOL? The youths are or can be very mean to each other. There is no such thing as people being nice to one another because they are another gay fellow that deserves common courtesy and respect. There is nobody saying hello to eachother on the streets or anything of the like, there are times people are not even noticed if the other doesn't want to sleep with them. A lot of people assume to be young is to have so much happiness. nobody ever mentions how youth may struggle
