Ivjc2, I know people who took statin drugs and one of them ended up in the hospital with severe leg muscle damage. Statin drugs can damage your liver as well. I have another friend who was put on Lipitor 80 mg and her cholesterol is still up. Ever since she's been taking this drug she's been feeling worse. Drug companies don't care about you or anyone else. It's all about making big profits for those scambags.

@tuxedo441 neither do medical doctors. The only thing they care about is that new Jag for the males and the new Lexus for the females. The other day I was at starbucks and this new med graduate was all talking about money and marketing with her friend. Medicine in the US was never about well-being and healing, but rather about money. You are your best doctor. The only time you should see one is when you go to the dentist or a surgery is required

@freedomwon There is no morality in a chemical - the good/bad labelling is unhelpful and perpetuates the myth that cholesterol can be pathogenic. Cholesterol is vital part of all eukaryote cell membranes and was a mjor evolutionary breakthrough. The pharmaceutical industry has confused the matter by labelling lipids fractions as good/bad cholesterol to sell ppills!

Through evolution have our body's adjusted to handling fatty hamburgers from Mcdonalds...No. Eat healthy, exercise, and be stress free and you will notice an improvement in your health. I think that telling people it is ok to eat fatty foods and not to worry about cholesterol is a load of junk. People with familial hypercholesterolemia don't have the choice of reducing their cholesterol through diet so they have to take statin drugs to reduce them. They have proven to increase their life exp

I don't know about Big Pharma but where I am from there has to be proven studies to show that the drug has appropriate efficacy. High cholesterol is bad just like ingesting too much water can cause toxic effects. Look at people with Familial hypercholesterolemia who have common symptoms of Chest pain (angina) or other signs of coronary artery disease. In these people their cholesterol levels are too high and that is why they get these symptoms. Statin drugs have proven their efficacy.

My doctor only prescribes statin drug and NEVER recommends or mentions fish oil or oat meal. I think she get commission from the the Big Pharma...
