The Echoes of Apollo program to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first moon walk included the World Moon Bounce or (EME) Day on 27th June 2009. Many EME station participated and a group of radio amateurs in Tasmania were able to use the 26m Mt Pleasant Radio Telescope located in Cambridge, Tasmania, Australia to communicate with stations around the world during the day. Many thanks to the University of Tasmania for the use of their dish.

Please note this is a YouTube summary of the complete 43m presentation which is available on DVD.

A short outline of the day can be found at: http://reast.asn.au/2009/20090705.pdf

The music excerpt used in the video is Franz Schubert Symphony #5 In B Flat, D 485 - 1. Allegro and the artist is Peter Maag and the Philharmonia Hungarica recorded in 1996 and is available on Quintessence Digital CDQ 2008 Intersound Inc.

  • I'm confused. Was the power used to do EME with this dish 2 watts? If so fantastic.

  • Happy 2010,

The weak signal contact made with PI9CAM was achieved with 3 milli-watts at the feed of the 26m Mt Pleasant dish.

Take a look at the short article at the link on the comments attached to this video.
