Never mind Ashkenazy plays way slower and different than this.

I had no idea this was supposed to be a sort of sad piece, it comes to me as more of a dignified, mighty sound when I first heard it. But nonetheless, I love Vladimir Ashkenazy's interpretation of this. And I believe he plays it a bit slower than this. :)

I completely disagree with most of you. I don't like this version at all. It's a hundred times more beautiful played slower.

Chopin was actually sixteen when he composed this piece. Was a farewell to his friend Wilhelm Kohlberg.

Very well played with great feeling. I have hear many performances of this masterful work, this one is on the same level with Rubenstein's recording. Thank you for posting this wonderful video.

Finally!!! I find someone to play in the right tempo! :D Lacks passion I would say though... It's a goodby, should be sad and the guy plays it like it's hello...

Chopin demanded that his Polonaises not to be played fast like this. He even made his pupils counted in quavers instead of crotchets.
This piece was written for a friend who was leaving Poland.
This absolutely full of feelings !!!
