  • RNP is pretty sweet.. great added safety margin for NPA's

  • PilotDH6...thanks for the correction...I know what the acroymn stands for, but it seems that I messed up while writing it above...I didn't even see the mistake, lol. Either way, RNP (and RNAV) specifications are an example of PBN criteria for the FAA's NextGen efforts...pretty cool stuff.

  • RNP does not stand for "Required Navigational Procedures" it stands for Required Navigational Performance, and is expressed in a value.

For differing uses (enroute, terminal, approach) require differing RNP values.

  • RNP stands for Required Navigational Procedures...it's an alternative way of shooting approaches and departures (Uses GPS technology and helps to reduce operational variance, helps create lower landing minima, better on the environment -- in terms of fuel and noise -- etc. etc. Really cool navigation system.

(And you can get private loans through several academies to get your fixed wing ratings)

  • what is RNP approaches? deciding on my flying career direction fix-wing or helicopter. Already have fix-wing private and almost helicopter but getting spendy for choppers and I pay as I go... wish i could get loans like they do for cars
