Post fight TV media coverage of the Longinidis vs Alexio bout in 1992. Alexio's team covered the loss to Longinidis up by lying to the American media and fabricating a story of how Alexio's leg had been broken due to a "hole" or "soft spot" in the canvas, rather than a kick from Stan. They used this as grounds to cover up the loss though it was obviously a win to Longinidis who was announced the winner and all other sanctioning bodies recorded it as a win to Stan and loss to Alexio. Some old school Americans from the Full Contact Alexio era refused to believe it was a loss, so on here you will not only see a reverse angle of the fight (which clearly shows Alexio's leg break in full view, you can obviously see when he awkwardly hops back and puts weight on the leg after the Stan kick that it breaks, and there is NO "hole" or "softness" on the canvas, it remains totally level as Alexio falls when the leg completely gives on the exact spot Stan kicked it) but you will hear Alexio's manager credit Stan on national TV for a "win by an excellent kick", in a brief interview conducted later that night. This is the same guy who was instrumental in cooking up the "hole in the ring" conspiracy theory to deceive the American fans, easy to do in the non-internet era of 1992.

  • Hows that a legal kick.. He broke his oponents bones.. It's not part of the game of kickboxing..

  • @Dimitri0809 fuck some of you people are hilarious. let me paint a picture for you, if a boxer throws a left hook to the body and breaks his opponents ribs, thus scoring a victory, should the left hook be deemed illegal becuase it caused an injury...even though its a legal fucking blow?! some of you dickheads need to use your head before you open your mouths and make the world a little dumber.

  • @striker2479

Not if it breaks bones.. If it lands and doesn't cause the breaking of bones then you should be rewarded a point for each blow. but if you break your oponents bones it's not part of the game.

  • @Dimitri0809 you're an idiot, you need to stay away from anything that requires a little brain power. you are way to stupid to explain this to. just know that your wrong and you need to go away.

  • FOR YOUR INFOMATION DENNIS ALXIO HURT HIS ANKLE WHEN THE BELL RANG IF YOU WATCH CARFULLY LONGINIDIS DIDNT EVEN KICK HIS ANKLE DENNIS ALEXIO HAD A BAD NIGHT LONGINIDIS WAS LUCKY LOL

  • @sonselarom it wasn't his ankle that broke, it was the tibea and fibula that broke, which is exactly where stan kicked him. he didn't simply roll his ankle. nice try though.

  • @striker2479 - i checked out your page - just coz we don't see eye to eye on kickboxing doesn't mean i cant say 'good taste in music - Blue Oyster Cult - and also you must be an intelligent dude liking Hitchens. Peace

  • People thats what fighting in the ring is all about. Is to hurt the other one even to break bones, Stans has powerful kicks so stop writing stupid comments.

  • Alexio has claimed a divit in the ring caused his leg break. There may be some truth to that, but Dennis has a history of not dealing well with anything other than a win. The rules were going to favor Stan because of the legality of low kicks, but its not like this fight proved any vast superiority of one man over another. Alexio was a great fighter who chose to not really compete seriously after this, Longinidis did and beat some great fighters, hence why his rep is more respected.

  • @Dimitri0809 your fucken retarded arent you?, or are you just taking the piss out of us???

lemme guess, if someone gets punched in the head and gets knocked out its an illegal blow??? go away and watch lawn bowls you fucken monkey

  • I worked as a sparring partner at different times for both these guys Dennis NEVER liked fighting with low kick rules the powers that controlled Kickboxing in those days gave way to much power to Bob Wall and Alexio which is one of the reason the sport never took off here in the U.S. if you look at their careers post this fight Stan fought everyone was in K-1 etc and Dennis stayed in Hawaii and fought hand picked opponents and still called himself "undisputed" world heavyweight champion lol
