This is a video of a 6 wheel robot that was designed to climb stairs. I build it as part of the Tulsa Undergraduate Research Challenge (TURC) in the summer of 2006. As this video demonstrates it can climb stairs but there are currently some limitations to the stair geometry that it will work with. The current wheels are lawn mower wheels and have relatively poor traction. We have new high traction wheels that should significantly improve its stair climbing abilities but have not yet devised a way of attaching them to the motors.
@inukami23 You're right. It is hard to see here. We took this video the night before a presentation. I still have the robot and it has better wheels now (more traction) I'll try and get a better video of it.
