Buddyz on The Move is a Childrens Reality, Factual Series in which young children (aged 8-12) identify and work to alleviate problems or social and health issues within their community.

The idea for Buddyz on the Move comes from experiences in Soul Buddyz clubs, which was initiated by Soul City Institute for Health and Development Communication in 2002. The Soul Buddyz Clubs comprise of children aged between the ages of 8 -12 years old there are approximately 4000 clubs around the country. The clubs meet in various locations in their communities (schools, libraries, park, and recreational centres) and discuss social issues that affect their communities. They work together in finding ways to alleviate these problems by approaching public officials, the community and other relevant people for assistance.
Buddyz on the Move uses the same model as the Soul Buddyz Club (Childrens drama- an entertaining 13 part youth drama, highlighting life skills, health issues and HIV/AIDS education. This drama series, integrates key health and development messages within its narrative. These are designed to appeal to South African children aged 8 to 12 years old.
The Buddyz are filmed over three days as they are trying to solve a problem within their community.
Buddyz on the Move encourages children to take initiative in changing their environment. It also grooms an investigative and enquiring mind in children in order for them to transcend their social disadvantages and seek better opportunities. It empowers children with information and practical ways to action their ideas constructively.
The programme was done a s a co-production between the SABC and Soul City Institute for Health and Development Communication. The current running series was done as a licencing.
