I forget what temple festival this is for. We were in Kanchipuram on June 16, 2009. Apparently, that day started I think a 10 day festival for one of the many temples in Kanchipuram. Every night starting on this night, they were to bring out one god from the temple and parade it through the town. This seemed like a small procession. My friend said as the festival neared the last day, the main god of that temple would come out and the procession would be much more grand.

  • @srinioasis Good to know this is the Grand Brahmotsavam of Kanchi and it's the 9th day functions. It was a great thing to experience. Kanchipuram has so many temples; hence so many different festivals.

  • If its at midnight and you can see this many devotees, its cannot be any other than the Grand Brahmotsavam of Kanchi. This is Punyakoti vimanam (9th day evening)

  • @raghow Thank you!

  • this can be none other than Sri Varadarja Perumal!!
