1976 (A Wonderful POP song about remembering the past, from the veteran singer/entertainer Shirley Bassey!...Shirley performs this Powerful Ballad about the good ole days that everyone will identify with; this song was performed back in 1976 on her TV Variety Show. Bassey is certainly known as one of the most powerful singers of the last 50 years. At nearly 40 yo at the time of this clip, she demonstrates once again perfect vocal timber & vibrato while blowing the roof off the house with the big notes and playing to the audience as she moves through her rich lower & mid range lyrical notes. The long last note of this song will bring chills down your spine....really!

This song, 'Make The World A Little Younger' is a track from Shirley's, 1973 LP titled, 'Never Never Never'

ABOUT the LP, Never Never Never:
Never Never Never is a 1973 album by Shirley Bassey. Released in May 1973, this album saw a peak in the Shirley Bassey career revival that she was experiencing during the early 1970s. The album's lead single, the title track had been a hit, reaching No.8 in the UK Charts and remaining in the top 50 for 19 weeks, becoming one of her biggest and most well-known hits, and her only single to make three US charts: No. 48 on the Billboard Hot 100, No.8 on the Adult Contemporary Chart, and No. 67 on the R&B Chart. The album soon followed and similarly entered the top 10, peaking at No. 10 during a 10 week run, and would go on to earn a silver disc. The album also was a hit in the US, peaking at No. 60 on the Billboard 200 amid positive reviews; it also hit No. 34 on the R&B Chart.

LYRICS:
When the world was a little younger
Fairy Tales were always true
Every face was filled with laughter
Every day brought something new
Summertime seemed to last forever
Friends would come and friends would go
But their warmth would always linger
In the days when time ran slow

Make the world a little younger
Let the laughter in
Yesterday was filled with magic
Bring it back again

Make the world a little younger
Wear a happy face
When the worlds a little younger
Life's a brighter place

When the world was a little younger
Love was just a smile away
There was time for going fishing
And the games we used to play

Make the world a little younger
Let the laughter in
Yesterday was filled with magic
Bring it back again

Make the world a little younger
Let the laughter in
Yesterday was filled with magic
Bring it back again

Make the world a little younger
Let the laughter in
Yesterday was filled with magic
Bring it back .....
again........

  • This is one of my very favorite DSB songs. And for anyone who is getting older, its lyrics ring so true. Thanks so much for posting.

  • @singers47 You are very welcome!! When I decided to re-upload Shirley's 1976 TV Series to the best possible quality, you can see that this song was one of the first that I uploaded. Although it's less well known that so many of Shirley's other songs, it also is one of my favorite, and I never get tired of both listening to her studio recording, and seeing this one sung live. If you weren't aware, I also uploaded Shirley's 1979 live rendition, but it was an outtake, quality isn't as good.
