What a great trio of candidates for the chorale to experience. I love that last clip of Bernstein conducting without his arms--but that would never work for a chorus! One of the major differences that I see between conducting an orchestra ensemble and chorus is that most of the instrumentalists can follow each other if necessary and stay together. All of the strings follow the concertmaster, for example. In a chorus, each singer relies mostly on watching the beat of the conductor.
