Although Billy Joel allows American Idol to use his songs, he HATES American Idol! He does not believe that a reality show like this is the way to become a SUCCESSFUL singer. He believes that you need to start all the way from scratch and build a career on your own, not try to just win one in a contest. In some ways, he's right because Idol winners like Fantasia, Taylor Hicks and Jordin Sparks have NOTHING now. HOWEVER, Idol winners like Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood have done GREAT!
