In this 9 minute video I read out one long entry from 'The Diary of a Young Girl: Anne Frank' The Definitive Edition. Edited by Otto H.Frank and Mirjam Pressler. You will learn a bit of Anne's past, why she began writing the book, and some of the Jewish laws made during Hitler's time. Just a small taste of how the Jewish people were treated, if they were aloud to live that is. Something not covered in the entry though is that she got the Diary on her 13th birthday, that means this entry was written barely over one week after she got it.

From the 100 pages that I've read in a mere two days(That is a helluva lot for me!) this book will suck you into Anne Frank's time and you can witness her experience in hiding from the nazis. Sometimes I laugh at some of the funny things that goes on during their good days, and other times I hold my breathe in tension as Anne tells me some of the scarier days she had to go through.

  • make that 12 million....

  • It was 6 million jews that were killed during the hollocaust.

  • it's not as you say. It was not only those notes, who were written (strangely in the same handwriting like the rest- so when somebody wants to do afterwards a revision or a remark, why does he has to do imitate the handwriting of the rest?. The BKA has constatated it, that the whole diary is a fake. Doing so, the consequences would be, the the profit maker of thise huge anne frank-industry would abruptly loose all credibility ad this lucrative income.(we speak here about billions of USD.

  • Half the stuff you said don't make any sense and I dunno who the BKA is but I think the book is unfortunately true. If it really IS a fake, then that changes only the names. It is still what I believe to be an accurate account, even if it is a fake one, of the suffering of the Jewish people during the holocaust.

  • The truth? The truth is six million innocent people died during World War 2 and this is the story of a young teen that was one of those six million. There is also 'Night' by Elie Wiesel and his take on the concentration camps. He was lucky enough to survive. I don't feel guilty for the jews or black people. I feel sorry for the suffering in their history but I am in no way to blame for that. Why would you criticize the behavior of a nation/religion/race anyways?

  • the definitive edition suckes.i recommend the revised critical edition

  • i do too!

  • my friend has the book he's reading out of!!!!!
