Christ did it all so does that mean we don't have to do anything? Read Rom 2:4-10, and Matt 25 and John 5:21. You better be doing something. But Eph 3:20-21 is the key. It is God working in and through us that brings this about. Jim uses false dichotomy.
I s the need for sanctificatn a denial that Christ's work was complete and not sufficient? Again this guy doesn't have a clue. Purgatory is all about grace. Nothing can happen there apart from grace. We can't purge our own sins. Grace can but we do have access to the fountain of grace and so can bring grace in to our lives and the lives of others.
This guy doesn't have a clue about purgatory either. 1 Cor 3:15 speaks of a being saved but as if through fire, a purging. I am sure he believes in sanctification. So does he believe he is completely pure and holy right now? Or does he still have some sanctificatin to go through? What if you die before that sanctification is completed? Revelations says "nothing unclean shall enter". Truly sad his distortions.
Don't ever listen to Protestants explanatoins of Catholic theology. Indulgences are not about a free pass for a coming weekend. This is nonsense. Indulgences are about the sins of the past that are forgiven, but yet there is some sanctificatin neccessary. Sin wounds. The wounds are healed by grace. An indulgence brings about grace. This guy does not have a clue about Catholicism.
"As water extinguishes a fire, so does the giving of alsm atone for sins." (Sirach 3:30) Peter affirms that "Love covers a multitude of sins." (1 Peter 4:8), as Christ affirms to those who do NOT show mercy, "These will be thrown into the prison and NOT released UNTIL all the are debts are paid," (Matthew 18:34), just as King David was forgiven for his sin, but had to pay for his wrongdoing.
