We are on the A44 from Rhayder to Crossgates. A fantastic road, but be warned re possible Police activity. Speeders beware. This is looking at an overtake, from first seeing the lorry to deciding on when to pass it. The rider look at his approach speed and the hazards at the time. In my opinion a good overtake, no risks and not much time lost by just waiting for the ideal opportunity....Commentary added after.

  • Can you tell me if going above 60mph to overtake is ok? The road has a 60 limit but want to know what the deal is if the vehicle in front is doing say 58mph and you wish to overtake at 64mph or so. Thanks

  • @JazzFiveO - Iam afraid you can not do it, especially with Rospa. Speed limits must be adhered to. There is always going to be that one occasion when the not so friendly Police Officer is there and will do you for exceeding the speed limit. In reality when you are out by yourself, you would do the overtake !

  • @advancedbiker with that said , is it hard to find places to practice overtaking like this? If you were out doing your ROSPA test and you couldnt find any vehicles going slow enough to show your proficiency in overtaking would that skill be ignored or would you come back?

  • @jimbo80982 = If there is no opportunity to do an overtake on a RoSPA test, you would not be marked down. When I examine I am looking for a rider who is 'systematic', safe and who shows to me that they have a good practical knowledge of advanced riding. The riding should be 'BRISK', within the posted speed limits. If there are no overtakes, you could still display your ability to access the situation, i.e. Moving closer to prepare for an overtake, change road position.

  • I'm not British I worked as motorcycle dispatch rider in London for 4 years and I tell you guys not all Brit guys sucks, some of them yes! they so perfectionists that gets on my nerves but there I found the most skilled motorcycle riders ever and I've ridden in more than 40 countries.

Keep an open mind about it people don't finish high school and go straight to college take some time to travel a little bit learn new stuff.

  • Im sure this video will be very useful to people learning to ride a bike/scooter. Keep them coming!

  • @advancedbiker ah oki, I do that allready, we just dont have a term/name for that in Dutch, thx for explaining :)

  • @tweetdezweet Were trying to ride to the Police System of Motorcycle Training and part of that system is checking the mirrors, then a shoulder check, either left or right. The 'Lifesaver' is called a last look behind before you commit to a turn, overtake etc. A good look behind you....Checking that any 'BLIND SPOT' is covered.

  • @advancedbiker might be a stupid question, but what is a lifesaver? I ride a motorcycle for about 3 years now but since I live in Belgium I have no clue what manouvre or "thing" is called a lifesaver... anyways thx for the nice vids :)

  • the fuck is this video about?
