You don't need special software. Something free like 'Wave flow' or Camstudio will work just fine. However, you DO need to learn how to configure your audio properties.
A site visitor asked how to record BOTH sides of a phone call when verifying a customer or asking for them to authorize a payment. Here's your tutorial buddy! - I use call recording to train customer service with real example tutorials.
Set your recording properties carefully, if you record your microphone input too high or it comes through the speakers too loudly, you could get a feedback loop. i.e. the sound goes continuously through the speakers into the mic and gets amplified. If that were to happen when you're on a real call that you're recording, not only will the recording be screwed up, the customers ears and your ears will get a dose of pain.
If you hear a lot of background white noise after selecting 'stereo mix', then go to 'sound recording' select volume, then go to your mic column and click on the 'advanced' button. Make sure your 20db boost is unchecked. Doing so will fix your problem in a way that you would never be able to fix it just by using the mic sensitivity slider.
