why do people say "m-air-io"? its "M-ah-rio". even charles martinet said so.

Believe it or not. On the East Coast, where there are lots of Italians, a lot of people say it like that - especially Italians. I even know someone named Mario, and his Italian family and friends says it the way I do as well. Just accept it and move on. :)
