Phil Varone - Skid Row Drummer - Lecture

Phil Varone is an accomplished drummer, music producer and songwriter best known for his work with bands Saigon Kick and Skid Row. After 18 years in the music business, Phil left in 2004 to pursue a new career in entertainment. He spent the first two years producing the feature length documentary 'Waking Up Dead', released June 2007. 'Waking Up Dead is a documentary that follows Phil Varone while on tour with Skid Row and his addition to Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll. Phil wants to share his story with today's youth so that they do not fall into the same trap that he did.

Phil will be showing a short clip of the documentary then sharing his experiences and his stories with the audience. The audience will have a question and answer period, where nothing is off limits. Phil has a natural ease on stage that makes audiences really connect to him and his stories. Phil is truthful, honest and easy to communicate with. By sharing his story, experiences, as well as answering questions, Phil's goal is taking it one day at a time and enjoying life, drug free.

Thanks... I appreciate it. Yea I don't even remember where this started, but I'm a huge Saigon Kick fan. I'm sure Phil is an awesome guy. I was introduced to this documentary in the bus from a lead singer of one of my bands... He actually knows Phil. I was just busting his chops saying Phil is a crybaby the whole time, and it's been a running gag ever since. So please: people with phil varone shrines, don't show up and kill me. It's just a laugh. I like him too.

I HAVE made more than a decent living off music in the short time I've been doing it.. I have connections in 3 different bands, worth at least 250K a year, playing "little tiny shows". Basically anybody who is anybody in southeast club circuit has called on me at some point. But I see what you're saying, if you have never played a sold out stadium, you're a wannabe hack... You have to be famous to be successful? You're a fucking idiot.

You're playing little tiny shows and thinking you can talk about what it's like to REALLY be in the business. You have no idea how much anxiety staying on top puts on famous people.
