The Rudolph Hess story was very interesting, especially with Donald Sutherland telling the tale to us. Proves an interesting take on the "power of one man in the right place at the right time."
-
so wait is this basically like an alternate reality dictatorship, mixture being america and england? i'm assuming , bit confused

That thing about a barbecue, In South Vietnam when the U.S. set up Diem as president in protest some monks set themselves on fire, diems wife Madam nhu was quoted to say "If the Buddhists want to have another barbecue, I will be glad to supply the gasoline."

@Diotima012 It's one of Thorne's books. Look at the picture on the back cover. Its a movie prop.

looks like Greece, ironic eh.

And that's why it garnered little success or acclaim.
Christ Donald Sutherland should have won the Oscar for this one.

"When Junior cracked down, Thorn's group turned to violence. Or maybe it was the other way around" I also liked the way Thorn rationalized the killing of innocent bystanders. As if to imply that anyone who is not supporting his "cause" doesn't deserve to live.People who live in countries like this always get caught between the government of the day and the 'revolutionaries' who think they should have the power. Thorn is already showing signs of being a corrupt power hungry tyrant in the making.
"I'll beat you like a red-headed stepchild and skull-fuck your corpse." Ha!
"Long slogan?"
"Yeah, big meal last night" Brilliant!

I like this, this is one of the first films that shows the reality of a modern day dictatorship.
