An aria from 'The Salon', a comic opera by Justin McKay. Performed by Luciano Marazzo (tenor) as Raphael, the hair stylist. The Salon was premiered at California State University, Chico in April of 2009, directed by Dr. Ying Yeh, and with Justin McKay at the piano. This opera is set in a hair salon in Chico, California, and takes the form of several episodes which occur in a typical day at the beauty salon. This aria is sung by the character Raphael, an Argentine hair stylist, and tells the story of how Raphael became interested in the world of fashion as a boy in Buenos Aires, and how his career brought him to California, where he is now renowned and adored for his work. Music and libretto are written by composer and pianist Justin McKay, based on an original idea by Professor Ying Yeh.
