This light show in a pool is a natural phenomena, but what and how?
(The video is not electronically altered.)

5/10/2009 Explanation of this phenomenon:
The recognition is obviously quantisized:
Step1:
Many answer the question what is it, with water.
A cat recognize this and never jumps in the pool.

Step2:
Some see spots of light.
A dog is able to recognize this and chases often a spot of light.

Step3:
Few tried to explain the light show in the rotating water of a small pool with reflections of sun light and came very close to the truth.

This riddle is for heavy thinkers and there is the solution:
A water hose in the pool (outside the picture) generates the rotation of the water. There was also a strong sun shine in Florida.
The Light show is not reflections on the water surface. The reflections of sun light are coming from the dark bottom of the plastic pool, but how?
The small ripples on the water surface are like lenses (there are similar elongated plastic lenses on the market to read lines on paper.)
The water depth or distance to the ground is just right to concentrate the light, which is clearly visible in this way.

Small ripples can be studied in this way, which can be small models for other phenomena.
Heavy Thinkers can ask now:
Why touch the ripples each other?
Why is there in the middle a black hole?
Why
I wait of intelligent questions.

  • light refraction- you obviously spun something on the water surface, and since refraction displaces the shadows on the bottom, you're able to hide your shadow and the action on the water's surface from the video. Also, you can see in the center of the dark circle, a droplet hits the surface as you raise the object and the circle (shadow) shrinks, then get's biggeragain when you place it back in the water. I believe you were dipping an object into a whirlpool???

  • @launcheverything I like your comment. You observed and you are thinking...unfortunately it is much simpler.

I let the water in with a water hose, saw the light and took my camera. The sun light is actually on the ground, because the ripples of the water are elongated lenses. But the pattern is still a mystery. Compare it with the picture of the entire universe…

  • it the sun reflecting off of the water

  • @kod1271 you describe something else: If you look on the beach against a low sun you see the flickering water surface. In this case the lightshow is on the ground of the pool, but the water has something to do with it…but what? This riddle is not easy

For most people it is too complicated to look trough.

  • his name is Eddy

  • same as below, but less complicated, a whirpool's reflection on the floor of the pool

  • @InventorWillimczik The light that hits the water is turned in a whirlpool by the water so the outer level of the whirlpool has a weird shape of light because the light was broken by the whirlpool and then regrouped in a different shape on the bottom of the pool :P

  • dejen de subir chingaderas

  • @InventorWillimczik its because the moving of the water by the pump.

  • I don't get it

  • @kod1271 no shit.... but something is makeing the water make this pattern.
