This is my unboxing of the Western Digital Live TV Hub. The plan is to stream the content from my computer to my LCD TV in the lounge. Either through a wireless adapter or possibly buying the Livewire kit from WD. Review to come!

  • I'm curious how this compares to Apple Tv's ability to playback ripped 720p and higher content? Because ATv only plays it's own iTune HD purchases well, it studders with any other media thrown at it. Considering buying this unit.

  • @DMIMAGE I will do a sample in the review. I have played Fast and Furious MKV File 1080P. Played flawlessly.

  • I would prefer to get myself something like this for my setup,Cos that apple TV is so hyped up by the media that all those apple fanboy's tend to do,lol,I like the idea of this kind of device doing what you want to do and not being stuck with Rental's,Get idea m8y,Thank's for the video, looking forward to the review :)

  • @pimpyouriphone3g Yes, i will definitely let you know how it goes. Unfortunately all the other reviews online talk about renting from blockbuster apps, etc. In Australia we got capped downloads, maybe 240GB is the most expensive plan. So the rental side is not that of interest to me of which this offers and the Apple TV Does.

  • Not bad at all, looking forward to a review.

  • @duncan33303 Hey Duncan, yes will have it up in the near future.

  • Do these play MKV and AVCHD/M2TS ?

  • so tell me how does video which is about 1080p 10 gb file compare to an actual blu ray disc ?

  • Aussies are so cool. Love the accent mate.

  • Is compatible with a MacBook ?

  • can i use my sound system 5.1 i have at home ?

  • @mohsenkhaze You can attach an external HDD to the wdtv live hub and transfer the files across onto the hub, hope that helps.

  • can you connect a hard external and copy the hard's file into TV live?

  • Does the WD TV LIve Plus upscale like this unit ??

I always thought my old WD Media box did as the video looked great but it didn't support 3TB drives. Bought a Seagate Go Flex TV and its absolute puss. My old Media box was better.

So I am buying the WD TV Live PLus tomorrow.

  • I'm looking to stream my SKY+ box or DVD/VHS player to my PS3 or XBOX 360 on the network, is this what i'm looking for, if not, can anyone recommend a product?
