Spartan IV is something they made up...

Mark VI is just the type of suit master chief wears, it has nothing to do with what Project he belongs to.

In Halo: Reach, we play as Spartan IIIs, but they wear Mark V armor, just a modified version of it.

@Eastman135 Uh, What?Red team ( 28 spartans I'm pretty sure) died on reach with the exception of a few including Fred Will and Kelly. Blue team ( consisting of John, James And Linda) Went into space to destroy some NAV data but James's boosters malfunctioned, sending him into space, and linda got shot in the back as entering their extraction vehicle. So no. Reach will not tell you lies.
