I have filmed a very rare De Tomaso Mangusta on the famous track Spa Francorchamps. The word "Mangusta" is Italian for "Mongoose", an animal that can kill cobras. Originally fitted with Ford 4.7L V8 mid-mounted engine that produces 306 horsepower (228 kW). Only 401 Mangustas were built, about 150 of the European version, with four headlamps.
The engine of this De Tomaso Mangusta has is a 351 Cleveland from a Pantera, which is loaded with 2 Turbos! It also has a waterinjection for a better engine cooling inside. The engines gives power according to the turboboost of 510 hp.

I shot a video of the Pantera in our family for 30 years, it sold on ebay first run. And my uncle owned a 69 ' Mangusta and sold it in 1995 , cash strapped for about $15,000! I love Pantera's too.

Awesome rare find!! Only about 400 of those were made. I personally like the looks of the Pantera better, but there's something special about seeing a Mangusta, as it's so rare. I'm a big fan of the newer supercars, but it's nice to see something different that you don't see very often. +1

Yes, it's very rare to see it nowadays. You expect something pure Italian sound (like the Countach), but it isn't. The Ford V8 gives this car a totally different sound, but it's still awesome!
