http://VoicesOfTruthTV.com - You never know what's going to happen around Hawai`i Island activist & Hui Pu founder Skippy Ioane. Thrown off the steps of `Iolani Palace during our interview when he attempts to claim it as sovereign territory, Skippy offers his own unique insights about the illegal overthrow & US occupation, & tells us the single most important thing we can do today with Hawai`i's ceded lands.
"I can go but not for long" the bones are still alive and yes the stones are still alive, says Skippy. Now a days when we talk about racisim in schools, its difficult because we have to talk about blacks, whites, and chicanos to get to racisim--no kidding. Occupation is the only way for the children, we like be there too with our owiee bones, but can.The ahu was created by Randy Kalahiki, however, Sam Ka'ai put it together under the direction of uncle. Sam told me this. Grumble! Independence.

He is spot on at 8:00 when he describes the different mentalities of Hawaiians. I'm beginning, if not already, to lose hope in the cause, but especially the people.
Most Hawaiians aren't HAWAIIANS anymore their Americans. They just use the claim of being Hawaiian when entitlement becomes an issue, but when they should take a step more for the HAWAIIAN cause they cower back to their American identity.
You can only be Hawaiian or an American. To be both is an inherent contradiction.

What he says at 8:00 is right on the spot, but I'm beginning to give up hope. There are all of these movements that have separated the mentalities of Hawaiians.
I see most Hawaiians as not HAWAIIANS anymore. They are American as they come with a sense of entitlement when it comes to some issues, but when asked to take a step further for the Hawaiians cause they cower back to their American ways.
What it boils down to is this...You can't claim to be a Hawaiian and an American. Contradiction

Thank you Skippy Ioane for loving the earth as mother and god, and thank you for your work and passion in resisting the forces that are preventing the full expression of the flavor of beingness that we call Hawai'ian......... The interview is excellent, I would be very interested to see another interview with Skippy Ioane. He is a man with interesting and important things to say.
