Ah another Belgium! Gulden Draak, brewed by brouwerij Van Steenberge, comes with an porcelin looking creamish white bottle with a long tongued funny looking Golden dragon (Gulden Draak) wearing a Santa hat! This is like a Belgium version of a British barley wine although thiis version is only brewed with a surprisingly low 7.5% alcohol. Brown deep amber looking beer with a typical nose of spicy yeast mixed with typical dry stone fruit such as fig and perhaps orange reduction. The entry was smooth with classy little tingling bubble then spicy pear, bitter chocolate and figgy malt to follow. The hotness of the beer was detected due to the alcohol which is very typical of many begian ales. The finish leaves a bitter aftertaste. Good beer to pair with an onion based beef stew? • it is a really lovely beer

we can still order it in our liqour store

    ( i work there) ^^

  • To me, many more 'traditional' Belgian beer are BIG, malty, spicy and high in alcohol. They are more as winter warmers than summer sippers. I like them but not for all occasions. I also find trappist style beer great with quality bread and red meat.

  • Wine glass? wtf

Drink that shit in a big fucking mug

  • 1. I absolutely love your languuage. You must have have loving parents who educate you to the highest standard! 2. I am not drinking and you have not read my notes elsewhere why I use wine glasses to TASTE...tasting & drinking are 2 different things; 3. Most Belgian ale glasses are essentially tulip shape like a wine glass. For this kind of ale, it shows the aroma much better than a mug.

Drink more and your language skills might improve further...

  • Erm, first of all: PLEASE never drink beer (especially not Belgian beer) in a WINE GLASS!!! That's so wrong. It's not wine, so you DON'T have to 'savor' it like wine! I'm sorry to tell you this: but you are SO wrong.

And secondly: your pronunciation is totally wrong. We are flEmish, not flAmish. Flemish can refer to anything related to Flanders, but it is NOT the language we speak, we speak DUTCH.

  • Also, many glasses that are traditional drinking vessels originated from 1. wonrg shaped that has passed on from traditions / history / culture; 2. from MARKETING to make it look different than others. In my opinion, most beer glasses do not bring out the best tastes in beer but now I agree with you: I use them to drink but I REFUSE to use them to taste unless they are of the right shape. There is a major distinction between drinking and tasting.

  • OMG I had this beer for the first time yesterday and this beer is absolutely...AMAZING! I went to Yardhouse restaurant and quite honestly this is probably one of my favorite beers now. I ordered two and I definitely was feeling it before I left. This beer will definitely come up and surprise you when you aren't looking. The only down fall is I paid $7 for each beer which is not cheap. To all who have not tried this...TRY IT! If you like beer you will love this one.

  • @BurnTheLeaves leffe

  • this beer allways make me sick the morning after <.<. But it gets me drunk XD

  • i live near the brewery, been there lots of times :p

  • I think this is the world's best beer , along with Westmalle .

  • You did the pronounced it good! :P

  • I found that beer excellent for a belgian strong dark ale.

  • That would be a goblet glass that is traditional for Belgain beers. It deserves a proper glass at 13$ a bottle.

  • i've never really been a fan of dark beers. I've always drank light coloured lagers. Do you have any recommendations on a really nice light tasting beer? Something other than a corona or an american/canadian light beer. And not something skunky like a heineken.
