This is instruction given to the then First Force Recon Company at Camp Pendleton on October 31, 1997. First Force Recon was and is, (under their new name) the ELITE Special Forces Group in the Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton.

This is instruction provided by the short-lived "Triad Alliance Group" which consisted of Robert/Sean, Juan Meza, and Jack Sera. This is one session of many, many recorded classes of San Soo being taught to Marines and Law Enforcement personnel. Some were initially taught by TAG, and after the dissolution of TAG, all were taught by TMI.

This is not a demo. But for both the novice San Soo person or the most advanced, it provides good instruction in some of the basics of San Soo. Understanding concepts of basics helps in executing the "simple" techniques of San Soo as well as in performing the most "complex" techniques...

The Captain cannot stress too much that a solid understanding and mastery of the foundation basics of San Soo is only a good thing, if dealing with a real street fight is what you are preparing for.

So if you are a San Soo person, set aside about 29 minutes, add Part One, Part Two, and Part Three into your play list and enjoy a good review or even what is perhaps for you, a slightly different take on some Basics of San Soo.

Juan and Robert were two 48 year old men in this 1997 video... it is clear that they were thoroughly enjoying themselves...

The Captain has only seen the Juanmeister on tape. But I can see that he is the Real McCoy when it comes to being a street monster if the occasion called for it... He is a tad arrogant also... but what is a San Soo Fighter if not a little full of himself...

  • 3000 reps... i need to get training

  • I don't care what art you train in, Master Meza has a damn good point here. The point to any training is to train again and again until it becomes second nature. Make your mistakes in training instead of the fight itself. He's a good fight coach... I tip my hat!

  • My uncle Johnny is bad ass

  • Juan looks like he's got some heavy hands.

  • Great Clip! There's a handful of great first generation masters still teaching in So Cal and Juan Meza is a SAN SOO MASTER. He studied with Jimmy from white belt until he received his Masters and up until Jimmy retired.

  • Sweet Memories

  • rare vid with FR! Thank's

  • Nice job
