@Mrinfoone The negative side would be the one that has a white stripe and "-" symbols running down it. Install it the same direction you took the old one out. Some boards have a small white square next to the side the negative pin goes.
@MegaMario202 I reacted on that too. My though was, however, there is a risk of the copper strip to come loose. You can actually pull out the electrolytic capacitor "cold". The pind will pop out of the capacitor and you can much easier use this desoldering method on the two pins alone. Ofcourse this only works with dried and bad capacitors, as the capacitor will be unusable anyway after pulling.
i use a pump instead of toothpicks...call me unprofessional...
