@levlobotomy A large part of American society believe in religious mumbo jumbo. The Apollo missions used a lot of their hard earned dollars to achieve what they did...

@levlobotomy From what I read, the astronauts were all disturbed by the bleak lifelessness of the lunar landscape when they had been alone on the dark side of the Moon - "and the Earth was without form, and void, and darkness was on the face of the deep".
In the original telecast, when they get to the part about "the good Earth", they pan up from the moonscape suddenly to show our world, blue and green and beautiful, hanging in the blackness. They're appreciating their home, not preaching.

@levlobotomy maybe because it was christmas idiot.

i wish i could see Earth from the moon, even if its just a dream. its really sad that their are mysteries in this universe that will never be solved in my lifetime. Imagine how much we'd solve if all countries worked together as an equal. We all live on Earth, Only one Earth. Yet we choose to divide ourselves..

May god forgive those who fail to grasp the beauty of this moment.
