as far as I know this is not romantic even if it seems a little bit as so.

Indeed a beautiful romantic piece! I once heard cellist Truls Mork with Shostakovich's 2nd cello concerto, a great musician.
The painting is by the French painter Pierre Bonnard (1867-1947). as beautiful as the music
