In AD 922, Arab courtier Ahmad Ibn Fadlan accompanies a party of Vikings to the barbaric North. Ibn Fadlan is appalled by the Vikings customs-- their wanton sexuality, their disregard for cleanliness, their cold-blooded human sacrifices. And then he learns the horrifying truth: he has been enlisted to combat a terror that slaughters the Vikings and devours their flesh.

I hate that Prince Wygclyf guy. he would not have gotten so mad about what Buliwyf said if it wasn't true. i, by the Authority vested in me, by me, do so declare the Prince to be a Uberdouche and a Tool. all in favor say Aye. all opposed, say nothing.

I also really like the innuendo between the queen and Buliwyf; the fact that Rothgar kind of resigns to their benevolent conspiracy when he calls for his armor is a charming moment.

Lions were found in Europe before they were pretty much driven to extinction. Also, the Northmen had a very extensive trade network reaching into Asia, Africa, Iberia, Anatolia, and Arabia.
