    the hugging isn't what earned him that title.

    It is a baseball fan's dream to do a "nice catch". He didn't keep the ball himself but gave it to his daughter who threw it back out. He noticed his daughter sensing she did the wrong thing, so he gave her a hug and support her

    Secondly if hugging your daughter constitutes father of the year then society has disgustingly low standards. So she threw a foul ball back. If you're not man enough to get over that and give your kid a hug in spite of it you don't deserve to be a parent.
