Linux Ubuntu, and Linux Mint are so simple to use Linux.
Have you tried Linux Mint ? Windows 7 rocks hard core .
Windows has just as good of video editing software as Mac.
The truth is Windows is used more for making movies than Mac.
Best video software for Windows are .Avid , Adobe Premiere, and Sony Vegas.
What I do is I use Linux to surf the web, download stuff , check my mail, and Windows to run my software ... It works perfect ...

Your experience with PCs is really not typical. I have PCs that have run for years without re-installing. Ubuntu is only a flavor of LINUX. Funny you mention it, because out of all the flavors, it is the closest to Windows. Also you have never used Vista - but if you are thinking about trying it you should wait for Windows 7 - so far it's a big improvement over Vista. As for Apple, Snow Leopard will be out soon, and more than likely your older hardware will have difficulties running it.
