Some kid on his Wolverine 450 thought he could take my grizzly on a nice hill climb at pismo...he was severely mistaken!

  • Wolverine 350 is my favorite ATV (Still have mine). A 5 speed, 50+ HP, light 4x4 would be my dream ATV. Bring back the OLD wolverine with updates!

  • I really was not trying on the grizzly. The kid on the 450 thought he new quad was hot stuff so we lined them up. I felt kinda bad so I didn't hammer the throttle at the end. Looking at the video it does look like it's slow motion but that's probably because we both started at the incline of the sand dune

  • @98Mpower I just looked it up too, the 450 Wolverine is only 50 pounds lighter than the 550 and 700 Grizzly's, so you figure buy a 700 and strip it down, take the racks off, cut off the supports that lead to the racks, and with that alone you'd probably lose a good 20 or 30 pounds, depending on how thick that steel is

  • @98Mpower r than the Outlander 800 and 150 lbs lighter than the Renegade. I'm sure if you got in touch with someone who knew what they were doing you could easily lose 100 lbs and put the Grizz where you want it at 500 lbs. Then, some serious engine work, bore it out, higher compression piston, cam, (maybe) clutch kit, exhaust, intake, optimizer/ power commander. For what you want, you'll never be able to buy one out the box, but for that amount of money you could easily make one damn near it

  • @98Mpower Well, I'd say just buy a Grizzly 700 and start modding it for that kind of dough. Not sure how much the racks weigh, but if you lose them, maybe start hacking away on the plastic, you could probably lose 50 pounds or so easily. switch to lightweight rims, keep the stock plastic skids (instead of switching to metal, like I still have yet to do but is def. one my next mods), and I'm sure there are many other things you could do to lighten it up. Don't forget, we're already 200 lbs lighte

  • @THizzle80 I know, but I'm kinda dreaming here. With say a higher price tag , better engineering and materials one can build a under 500lb race 4x4 with 100 hp. It will cost $30K + but there is a market for it all though a small one.

  • @98Mpower the bigger the engine the heavier the weight will be. What you want is a lightweight Renegade basically, and most of that weight of the 'gade is from it's heavy engine. Also, CVTs far out perform any manual transmission, it lets you use the peak power of your engine constantly

  • somebody needs to build a full on 4x4 race quad with IRS and all the goodies. But have it be full manual trans like the 450 race quads. It would be a nice change to have something with the power of a outlander 800 but the size of a YZF 450 with 4x4 and IRS. If so I'll be the 1st buyer.

  • @bringdabayback I got one im looking to sell, new tires and runs strong.

  • is it manual i got a wolverine 350 08 model and its automatic

  • hell yeah! my dad has a 96, one of the best 4x4 quads i've ever rode.

  • Yea, that sounds like a perfect quad to me.
