@MrColt45acp Hell man! I read an article on the net, and I read one which stated that a Colt M1911 blown up after the test, although haven't been on a failure. This must be it.

Wouldnt it be rare to have an a1 slide from the 1920s, if the 1911 a1 onle started production in 1927?
mikethenascarfan 10 months ago
@mikethenascarfan The 1911A1 was produced as the "Improved Model of 1911" in 1924, commonly refered to as the Transition Model. Only 10,000 were made. The Ordnance Department designation of "Pistol, Automatic, Caliber .45, M1911A1" occured on May 27, 1926 although no 1911A1's were produced from 1925 thru 1936.
Thanks for watching!

The bulge on the other side of the slide would suggest it was a very hot round. You dont happen to have the frame also?

@FISHERMANPADDY great observation. No, I don't have the frame :(
thanks for watching!

you destroyed a vintage 1911 slide? thats a damn shame. thats sacrilege
why didn't you do that to a modern day colt or kimber instead?

@Alexn1067
No, Colt manufacturing destroyed a complete 1911a1 in the 1920's as a product safety test. This is the historical artifact that remains in a collection today.
