Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin rolled out its Mobile Pantry Program in 2003 and now operates 29 each month. In partnership with a partner agency (food pantry, shelter, meal site), food from the Second Harvest Foodbank warehouse is trucked to a neighborhood site at a prescheduled time for immediate distribution to residents at risk of hunger. The program provides additional food to those in need and gives Second Harvest Foodbank a valuable channel to increase distribution of perishable food items to ensure good food will not go to waste.
